In
2001, Blue Cross of Idaho's Board of Directors made the
decision to establish a foundation dedicated to health improvement
initiatives. The creation of the foundation stemmed from
the desire to positively impact the health of all Idahoans
through the promotion of wellness and prevention programs.
From
our grassroots effort that has taught 15,000 Idaho first
graders healthy habits; to working with over 300 physicians
and the state's seven health districts on an anti-smoking
project; to organizing the annual Blue Cruise Wheels for
Wellness bike ride, the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for
Health is working hard to promote a healthier Idaho.

Report
The
Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health is proud to be
a partner with the YMCA for Idaho's Activate America Partnership,
an initiative to fight the growing health concerns of obesity
and inactivity. The mission of the Partnership is to be
the catalyst to reverse Idahos obesity and inactivity
crisis. The vision is that the Treasure Valley will become
the model for active living and healthy eating in America.
Numerous other community and statewide organizations are
working hand in hand to reach these goals. A pedometer-based
program that encourages individuals to move more and eat
better -- taking 2,000 extra steps each day and eating 100
less calories each day. America on the Move in Idaho, a
program of the Activate America Partnership, is a non-profit/volunteer
organization helping Idahoans be more active and healthy.
