In a newly released Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association report, Investing in America’s Health, Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health’s Touch to Quit program was featured. Touch to Quit is a pilot tobacco cessation program that encourages hospitalized tobacco users to quit. The report highlights corporate and foundation giving by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, which totaled more than $195 million in 2007. The money was invested in a variety of areas, including access to care, disaster relief, healthcare disparities, healthcare recruitment and retention, maternal and child health issues, obesity prevention, wellness and prevention, and social issues and causes.
