Idaho Faces a Big Challenge.
Lack of awareness and stigma keep many children who have behavioral or emotional health concerns from getting help. And even when they seek help, Idaho has a shortage of professionals trained in early recognition and intervention that can help prevent academic failure, substance abuse, and involvement in the justice system.
We want to change that.
That’s why The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health is working to improve youth behavioral health through workforce development and training in our state. By training individuals who interact with youth, we can become better at both early identification and developing skills to respond and assist.
20% of children and adolescents experience emotional and behavioral concerns.
With The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health financial and strategic support, community partners are hosting trainings for parents, teachers, childcare providers, medical providers and others that cover:
- Mental health challenges
- Recognizing warning signs
- Behavior disorders
- Mood disorders
- Learning and development disorders
- Social Interaction
- Emotional Well-Being
- Self-Image and Self-Esteem
- And more
