Stanley Mayor Steve Botti poses with third-grade student JoJo Anderson. JoJo interviewed the mayor during the Mayor’s Walking Challenge and wrote a story for the Stanley School newspaper.

Stanley Mayor Steve Botti was engaged with the students in the Stanley School during the Mayor’s Walking Challenge in October.

When he walked with the students, one of them decided to write a story about the mayor and the walking challenge. JoJo Anderson, a third-grader at the Stanley School, interviewed the mayor and then wrote about it. The story, which can be viewed below, was the cover story for the Sawtooth Express, the school newspaper.

Mayor Botti was a first-time participant in the Mayor’s Walking Challenge. He earned $1,000 for the Stanley School by averaging more than 10,000 steps per day in October. He encouraged the kids at the school to be active and let them know how important it was to exercise.

Mayor Botti was one of 77 mayors who registered for the walking challenge and one of 68 who met the step goal to earn funds for his community.
