The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health is reaching out to all Idaho mayors and asking them to register for the Mayor’s Walking Challenge and join our #100MayorMovement.

Idaho has 200 mayors, and we’ve set a lofty goal to have at least half of them participate in the October challenge that promotes the importance of children to be physically active.

It’s a win-win situation for mayors — the opportunity to do something healthy for themselves and their community.

Win No. 1: Walking 10,000 steps in a day is healthy habit. Mayors who participate will be helping their own health and encouraging others to do the same.

Win No. 2: Mayors who average 10,000 steps a day in October will earn $1,000 to donate to a school or parks department for projects, programs or equipment that promote active communities.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing stories of mayors who have participated in past years and are excited to earn funds again this year. We hope their stories inspire other mayors to join our #100MayorMovement.
